Barb Loved Gold.

My husband and I bought our first home a few years ago. A cute cape cod styled home built in 1947. The previous owner, Barb, had lived there for over 20 years and let me tell you she loved gold.

Gold faucets, gold knobs, gold fans, gold mirrors, gold trim doors … I think you get the picture (if not look below). Nevertheless, gold is not my thing.

My first self-delegated task was to de-gold as much as possible without buying all new fixtures and hardware. Rustoleum Oil-Rubbed Bronze spray paint became my new best friend. Seriously, it’s magic. For less than $6 a can from Home Depot I was able to make some pretty cool transformations. To see the full tutorial check out my post “DIY Ceiling Fan Makeover.”
